Sonarpur Dakshin Assembly constituency is part of Jadavpur parliamentary constituency, located in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. It is a Legislative Assembly constituency of South 24 Parganas district in the Indian State of West Bengal. As per the order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, Sonarpur Dakshin Assembly constituency is composed of Rajpur Sonarpur municipality and Kalikapur-I, Kalikapur-II, Langalberia, Poleghat, Pratapnagar and Sonarpur-II gram panchayats of Sonarpur community development block. Sonarpur Dakshin Assembly constituency is a part of No. 22 Jadavpur (Lok Sabha constituency). The constituency was established in 1962 and is a general seat. It is one of the 294 assembly constituencies in West Bengal and one of the seven assembly segments of the Jadavpur Parliament seat. In the Vidhan Sabha elections 2021, Arundhuti Maitra (Lovely) of AITC party won with 1,09,222 votes. The runner-up was Anjana Basu of BJP party, with a margin of victory of 26,181 votes. In the 2016 Vidhan Sabha elections, Jiban Mukhopadhyay of AITC party won with 97,455 votes, defeating Tarit Chakraborty of CPI party by a margin of 15,029 votes.
