Nabadwip is a key legislative assembly constituency in West Bengal’s Nadia district. In the 2021 Assembly elections, the seat was won by the All India Trinamool Congress.
TMC candidate Pundarikakshya Saha (Nanda) defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Siddartha Naskar by a margin of 18,571 votes. The Nabadwip Assembly constituency is part of the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Mahua Moitra won the Krishnanagar parliamentary seat, defeating the BJP’s Rajmata Amrita Roy by a margin of 56,705 votes.
The constituency had 251,525 registered voters in 2024, up from 243,159 in 2021 and 237,010 in 2019, reflecting a gradual increase in the electorate. The seat remains Hindu-majority, though Muslims constitute a significant demographic group at 19.90 per cent of voters. Scheduled Castes account for 16.19 per cent of the electorate, while Scheduled Tribes make up 2.52 per cent.
Nabadwip has a largely urban voter base, with 60.94 per cent of electors living in urban areas and 39.06 per cent in rural pockets. Voter turnout has remained consistently high over the years, with 87.97 per cent recorded in 2011, 86.23 per cent in 2016, 85.17 per cent in 2019, 86.84 per cent in 2021 and 82.80 per cent in 2024.
