Rampurhat is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Birbhum Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Asish Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Rampurhat. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 47.53 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 43.63 per cent of the votes.
Asish Banerjee has held the constituency for multiple consecutive terms, having also won the seat in the 2016 and 2011 Assembly elections as an AITC candidate.
The election history shows that Rampurhat has remained under AITC’s control for several consecutive elections, reflecting consistent voter support for the party in the constituency.
