Kulpi is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Mathurapur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. The seat is part of the state’s 294 Assembly constituencies and has seen electoral participation from major political parties.
At present, Jogaranjan Halder of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Kulpi. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 50.01 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 32.5 per cent of the votes.
Jogaranjan Halder has held the constituency for multiple consecutive terms, having also won the seat in the 2016 and 2011 Assembly elections as an AITC candidate.
The election history shows that Kulpi has remained under AITC’s control for several consecutive elections, reflecting consistent voter support for the party in the constituency.
