Kaliganj is a key legislative assembly constituency in West Bengal’s Nadia district. In the 2025 Assembly elections, the seat was won by the Trinamool Congress.
A general category seat, Kaliganj comprises 13 gram panchayats under its community development block and is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2025 Assembly polls, TMC candidate Alifa Ahmed defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Ashish Ghosh by a margin of 50,049 votes. The Kaliganj Assembly constituency is part of the Krishnanagar parliamentary seat. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Mahua Moitra won the Krishnanagar seat, defeating the BJP’s Rajmata Amrita Roy by a margin of 56,705 votes.
Lok Sabha trends in the Kaliganj segment broadly mirror the Assembly results. In the 2024 general elections, Mahua Moitra led in the Kaliganj segment by 30,773 votes, slightly lower than her 2019 lead of 37,228 votes. The BJP finished second in both elections, signalling a growing presence but also highlighting the gap it must close to mount a stronger challenge.
