Lalgola is one of the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, located in Murshidabad district and forming part of the Jangipur Lok Sabha seat. A general category constituency, it has witnessed a clear shift in political representation across recent elections.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Lalgola had 234,381 registered electors, of whom 190,438 cast valid votes. The seat was won by Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Ali Mohammad, who secured 107,860 votes. Indian National Congress candidate Abu Hena finished second with 47,153 votes, trailing by a margin of 60,707 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had an electorate of 199,397, with 165,312 valid votes recorded, reflecting a turnout of 82.91 per cent. Indian National Congress candidate Abu Hena won the seat with 100,110 votes. TMC candidate Chand Mohammad came second with 46,635 votes, losing by a margin of 53,475 votes.
