Amdanga (No. 102) is an active general category assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. It covers Amdanga CD block plus Dattapukur I, Dattapukur II, and Kashimpur GPs from Barasat I block, part of Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency. AITC's Abdul Rahim has held the seat since 2011. In 2021, he won with ~93,000 votes (48.81per cent), defeating BJP's Joydeb Manna (57,000 votes, 29.97per cent) by 25,480 votes; CPI(M) supported Indian Secular Front. Turnout: 87.30per cent. The CPI(M) dominated the Amdanga assembly constituency from 1977 to 2006, securing seven consecutive victories. The seat features a high rural population of 71 percent and consistently high voter turnout between 85 and 91 percent. These factors have established Amdanga as an AITC stronghold in recent years, though BJP has emerged as the primary challenger. Preparations for the 2026 West Bengal assembly election are currently underway.
