Suri is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Birbhum Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Bikash Roychoudhury of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Suri. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 48.44 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 45.09 per cent of the votes.
Earlier, the constituency was also won by AITC candidates in previous elections. Asok Kumar Chattopadhyay secured victory in 2016, while Swapan Kanti Ghosh won the seat in 2011.
The election history shows that Suri has remained under AITC’s control for multiple consecutive terms, reflecting consistent voter support for the party in the constituency.
