Entally Assembly constituency is a Legislative Assembly seat in Kolkata district, West Bengal. Established in 1951, it is one of the 294 assembly constituencies in the state. The seat is a general category constituency situated in Kolkata Corporation district and is one of the seven assembly segments under No. 24 Kolkata Uttar Lok Sabha constituency. Entally forms part of the Kolkata Uttar parliamentary constituency in Kolkata North district. In the 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections, Swarna Kamal Saha of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the seat with 1,01,709 votes, defeating Priyanka Tibrewal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 58,257 votes. In the 2016 assembly elections, Swarna Kamal Saha secured 75,841 votes, defeating Debesh Das of the CPI(M) by 27,988 votes. Saha was first elected from Entally in 2011 and has been re-elected in 2016 and 2021, maintaining the constituency as a Trinamool Congress stronghold. Swarna Kamal Saha is a senior Trinamool Congress leader with more than three decades in electoral politics. His son, Sandipan Saha, has also entered public life. An alumnus of the IIMC, Sandipan left a career in the IT sector to join politics in 2015. He won the Kolkata Municipal Corporation civic polls from Janbazar, a ward the Saha family has held since the mid-1980s. Over the years, he has served as an IT adviser to the KMC and has stated his intent to carry forward his father’s political legacy, building his own identity in civic administration and grassroots politics.
