Gangarampur (SC) is one of the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, located in Dakshin Dinajpur district. Reserved for Scheduled Castes, it is a key political constituency in the region.
In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Gangarampur had a total electorate of 224,040 voters, of which 189,482 valid votes were cast. The contest was closely fought between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). BJP candidate Satyendra Nath Ray won the seat with 88,724 votes, defeating TMC’s Goutam Das, who secured 84,132 votes. The margin of victory was 4,592 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 198,724 registered electors, with 173,378 valid votes recorded. That year, Indian National Congress candidate Goutam Das emerged victorious with 80,401 votes. He defeated TMC candidate Satyendra Nath Roy, who polled 69,668 votes, by a margin of 10,733 votes.
