Kumarganj, a general category Assembly constituency in West Bengal’s Dakshin Dinajpur district, is part of the Balurghat parliamentary seat comprising seven segments.
In the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, Kumarganj had a total of 203,986 registered electors, out of which 170,928 valid votes were cast. Trinamool Congress (TMC), Toraf Hossain Mandal, won the election and was elected as the MLA from the constituency. He secured 89,763 votes, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Manas Sarkar, who finished second with 60,396 votes. The margin of victory was 29,367 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 179,509 electors, with 154,022 valid votes recorded. Toraf Hossain Mandal of the TMC also won that election, securing 64,501 votes. He defeated the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate, Mafuja Khatun, who received 61,005 votes, by a margin of 3,496 votes.
