Bardhaman Uttar (SC), Assembly Constituency No. 267 (officially "Burdwan Uttar"), lies in the northern portion of Bardhaman town and surrounding areas in Purba Bardhaman district, South Bengal. Covering northern municipal wards of Bardhaman and adjacent peri-urban blocks along the Damodar, the constituency has 262,000+ electors—among the largest in the district cluster—from SC communities, urban workers, and peri-urban mixed populations. The SC-reserved character in an urban-peri-urban setting is a distinctive electoral combination. Key voter concerns include urban-peri-urban employment, SC welfare scheme delivery, healthcare at Bardhaman Medical College, civic infrastructure in northern Bardhaman wards, and connectivity. The urban SC community is politically aware and responsive to both welfare-scheme mobilization and local governance quality. Historically Left Front urban, now a TMC stronghold with BJP challenge. Very high turnout (91.4per cent) under Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha. In 2021, TMC's Nisith Kumar Malik won comfortably by 17,268 votes (~7.2per cent of 239,529 votes), a solid margin. A comfortably safe TMC seat; the large electorate and healthy margin make Bardhaman Uttar a significant urban-SC-bloc anchor for TMC. As the northern counterpart to Bardhaman Dakshin, it completes TMC's grip on the district headquarters in Purba Bardhaman.
