Nanoor (SC) is a Scheduled Caste Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Bolpur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Bidhan Chandra Majhi of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Nanoor. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 47.65 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 44.81 per cent of the votes.
Earlier, the constituency was won by Shyamali Pradhan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) in 2016. In 2011, Gadadhar Hazra of AITC had secured victory in the seat.
The election history shows that Nanoor (SC) has seen changes in political representation over the years, reflecting competitive electoral dynamics and shifting voter preferences in the constituency.
