Durgapur Paschim is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Bardhaman–Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Lakshman Chandra Ghorui of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the sitting MLA from Durgapur Paschim. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 46.32 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate, who received 38.87 per cent of the votes.
Earlier, the constituency was won by Bishwanath Parial of the Indian National Congress (INC) in 2016. In 2011, Apurba Mukherjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) had secured victory in the seat.
The election history shows that Durgapur Paschim has seen changes in political representation over the years, reflecting competitive electoral dynamics and shifting voter preferences in the constituency.
