Mayureswar is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Bolpur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Abhijit Roy of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Mayureswar. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 50.36 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 44.31 per cent of the votes.
Abhijit Roy has also represented the constituency in the previous election, having won the seat in 2016 as an AITC candidate. Earlier, the constituency was won by Asok Ray of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) in 2011.
The election history shows that Mayureswar has seen changes in political representation over the years, reflecting electoral competition and shifting voter preferences in the constituency.
