Habibpur (ST) is one of the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, located in Malda district and forming part of the Maldaha Uttar Lok Sabha seat. Reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates, the constituency has seen closely contested elections, reflecting broader political shifts in the state.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Habibpur had 249,557 registered electors, of whom 197,989 cast valid votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Joyel Murmu won the seat with 94,075 votes. Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Prodip Baskey finished second with 74,558 votes, trailing by 19,517 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had an electorate of 223,084, with 184,369 valid votes recorded, reflecting a turnout of 82.69 per cent. Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Khagen Murmu won the seat with 64,095 votes. TMC candidate Amal Kisku came second with 61,583 votes, losing by a margin of 2,512 votes.
