Jamuria is a General category Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Hareram Singh of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Jamuria. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 42.6 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 37.77 per cent of the votes.
Earlier, the constituency was represented by Jahanara Khan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), who won the seat in both the 2016 and 2011 Assembly elections.
The election history shows that Jamuria has seen shifts in political representation, reflecting electoral competition and changing voter preferences in the constituency over time.
