Behala Purba Assembly constituency, formerly known as Behala East, is a Legislative Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a general category seat established in 1951 and is part of No. 23 Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency is one of the seven assembly segments of Kolkata Dakshin Parliament Seat and is one of the 294 assembly constituencies in West Bengal. In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Ratna Chatterjee of AITC won with 1,10,968 votes, defeating BJP’s Payel Sarkar by a margin of 37,428 votes. In 2016, Sovan Chatterjee of AITC secured victory with 96,621 votes, beating IND’s Professor Ambikesh Mahapatra by 24,294 votes.
