Sandeshkhali, located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, is a Scheduled Tribe-reserved Assembly constituency and one of the seven segments under the Basirhat Lok Sabha seat.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Sandeshkhali had a total of 2,38,633 electors, with 2,05,787 valid votes cast. Trinamool Congress candidate Sukumar Mahata won the seat with 1,12,450 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr Bhaskar Sardar finished second with 72,765 votes, losing by a margin of 39,685 votes.
In 2016, the constituency had 2,15,194 electors and recorded 1,87,519 valid votes. Trinamool Congress candidate Sukumar Mahata also won that election with 96,556 votes. Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Nirapada Sardar secured 58,366 votes and lost by 38,190 votes.
During the 2011 Assembly elections, Sandeshkhali had 1,72,416 electors and 1,54,633 valid votes. CPI(M) candidate Nirapada Sardar won the seat with 66,815 votes, while Trinamool Congress candidate Srimati Padma Mahato came second with 62,583 votes, losing by 4,232 votes.
