Manikchak is one of the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, located in Malda district and forming part of the Maldaha Dakshin Lok Sabha seat. A general category constituency, it has seen shifts in political representation over the years.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Manikchak had 253,353 registered electors, of whom 206,991 cast valid votes. The seat was won by Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Sabitri Mitra, who secured 110,234 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Gour Chandra Mandal finished second with 76,356 votes, trailing by a margin of 33,878 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 79.17 per cent. Earlier, in the 2006 Assembly elections, 103,084 valid votes were cast. Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Asima Chaudhuri won the seat with 45,660 votes, while Indian National Congress candidate Ram Prabesh Mandal came second with 40,196 votes, losing by a margin of 5,464 votes.
