Balurghat Assembly Constituency is one of the 294 legislative assembly constituencies in West Bengal. It is a general category seat located in Dakshin Dinajpur district and forms part of the Balurghat Parliamentary Constituency, which includes seven assembly segments.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, the constituency had a total of 180,390 registered electors, of which 152,092 valid votes were cast. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ashok Kumar Lahiri won the seat with 72,129 votes. He defeated Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Sekhar Dasgupta, who secured 58,693 votes. The margin of victory was 13,436 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Balurghat had 160,609 electors, with 141,503 valid votes polled. Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate Biswanath Choudhury won the seat with 60,590 votes. He edged past TMC candidate Chakravorti Shankar, who received 59,140 votes, by a narrow margin of 1,450 votes.
