Jaynagar (SC) is a Scheduled Caste Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Jaynagar (SC) Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Biswanath Das of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Jaynagar. He won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 51.85 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 32.74 per cent of the votes.
Biswanath Das has also represented the constituency in the previous election, having won the seat in 2016 as an AITC candidate. Earlier, the constituency was won by Tarun Kanti Naskar of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) [SUCI(C)] in 2011.
The election history shows that Jaynagar (SC) has seen changes in political representation over the years, while AITC has maintained a strong presence in recent elections.
