Galsi (SC) is a Scheduled Caste Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Bardhaman–Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Nepal Ghorui of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Galsi. In the 2021 Assembly election, he won the seat by securing 49.21 per cent of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 40.56 per cent of the votes.
Nepal Ghorui of AITC won the seat in 2021, while Alok Kumar Majhi, also from AITC, had won in 2016. Earlier, in 2011, Sunil Kumar Mondal of the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) emerged victorious.
These results show that while AITC has held the seat in recent elections, Galsi (SC) has witnessed electoral competition, reflecting changing political dynamics in the constituency over time.
