Basirhat Uttar (North) Assembly constituency is located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal and is one of the seven Assembly segments under the Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency.
The seat is currently represented by Rafikul Islam Mondal, who has won the constituency twice. His first victory came in 2016 as a CPI(M) candidate, when he defeated his nearest rival by a narrow margin of 492 votes.
After switching to the Trinamool Congress, Mondal secured a much larger victory in the 2021 Assembly elections, winning by a margin of 89,351 votes. His closest challenger was Mohd. Baijid Amin of the Rashtriya Secular Majlis Party, who was backed by the Left Front–Congress alliance. The BJP’s Narayan Chandra Mondal finished a close third, trailing Amin by just 360 votes.
