Puducherry’s Mahe assembly constituency falls within the Union territory’s Mahe region. Until 2011, the region had two assembly seats—Mahe and Palloor. That year, Palloor was abolished and merged with Mahe, creating a single enlarged constituency covering the entire region. The seat is currently held by Congress MLA Ramesh Parambath, who won by a narrow margin of just 300 votes over independent candidate N Haridasan Master. Earlier, the constituency had been won by independent V Ramachandran, who secured a victory margin of 2,139 votes over Congress candidate E Valsaraj. In the 2021 Puducherry assembly elections, Mahe had 30,296 registered voters, of whom 23,187 cast their votes.
