Kamaraj Nagar is one of the 30 assembly constituencies in Puducherry and is currently represented by A Johnkumar of the BJP, a minister in the Union Territory’s NDA coalition government. In the 2021 assembly election, the constituency had 35,324 registered electors, of whom 29,083 cast their votes. Johnkumar won the seat by defeating Congress’ MOHF Shahjahan with a margin of 7,229 votes. Kamaraj Nagar forms part of Puducherry’s sole Lok Sabha constituency, also called Puducherry. Assembly elections for all 30 constituencies in Puducherry are expected to be held in April.
