The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for the 2026 Puducherry Assembly elections. Polling for all 30 constituencies of the 16th Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the elections across four states and the Union Territory would be conducted in a free, fair and violence-free manner, with strict action against any attempts at violence or inducement. He also assured transparency in the counting process and declaration of results.
Puducherry will vote alongside Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
