Kadirkamam is a Puducherry assembly constituency that was previously represented by N Rangasamy, the Union territory’s incumbent chief minister. It forms part of Puducherry’s sole Lok Sabha seat, also called Puducherry. In the 2021 assembly election, Kadirkamam had 33,454 registered electors, of whom 26,125 cast their votes. The seat was won by All India NR Congress candidate S Ramesh, who defeated Congress’ P Selvanadane by 12,246 votes—the second-highest margin in that election. This marked the party’s third consecutive victory in Kadirkamam, following Rangasamy’s win in 2011 and NS Jayabal’s victory in 2016.
