NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Counting is underway across four state assemblies and early leads are shaping up across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, placing it well past the majority mark on current trends. The Congress-led combine has a tally of 22, all leads, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In Tamil Nadu, the 234-seat assembly requires 118 for a majority. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading. NDA trails with a tally of 55, all leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 115 seats, with 10 declared, and need 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. Across to West Bengal, BJP holds a tally of 179 in the 294-seat house, where 148 is the majority mark, having won 11 and leading in 168, crossing the majority threshold on current leads. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Kerala, where 71 seats decide a majority in the 140-seat assembly, UDF leads all four states with a tally of 87, having already won 68 seats and leading in 19 more. LDF is trailing with a tally of 36, comprising 30 won and 6 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
