Nestled along Kerala's Thrissur district coastline in the Chalakudy Lok Sabha region, the Kaipamangalam Assembly constituency ranks as the 69th among the state's 140 legislative seats. This general seat draws over 170,000 voters from fishing communities and rural Muslim-Hindu mixes, consistently posting turnouts above 78per cent, spanning Kaipamangalam grama panchayat, Perinjanam, Edavilangu, and coastal wards in central Kerala's maritime belt. It exemplifies CPI's reliable LDF dominance since the 2011 delimitation, rooted in fisherfolk welfare against UDF challengers. In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, CPI's E.T. Taison Master secured a resounding victory with 66,824 votes (49.8per cent), defeating RSP's M.T. Muhammed Nahas's 33,384 votes (24.9per cent) by a massive 33,440-vote margin amid high turnout. The 2016 polls reinforced Taison Master's hold with around 58,000 votes, comfortably ahead of rivals by over 22,000 votes from nearly 135,000 voters, cementing back-to-back LDF triumphs in this post-delimitation bastion. As 2026 approaches, Kaipamangalam's CPI stronghold thrives on tsunami rehabilitation, coastal protection, and rural development initiatives.
