Neyyattinkara Assembly constituency is a general seat in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, encompassing Neyyattinkara town and rural panchayats near Tamil Nadu border with rubber plantations, cashew farms, and migrant labor shaping its politics. The current MLA is K. Ansalan from CPI(M), elected in 2021 with 65,497 votes (47.02per cent), defeating INC's R. Selvaraj (51,235 votes, 36.78per cent) by 14,262 votes, while BJP's Chenkal S. Rajasekharan Nair got 21,009 votes (15.08per cent) amid 72.23per cent turnout. Key issues include coastal erosion affecting fishing; poor rural road connectivity hindering farm exports; youth unemployment despite Gulf remittances; erratic water supply and sanitation gaps; overburdened PHCs; illegal sand mining polluting rivers; monsoon power outages; rising land prices squeezing small farmers; traffic near markets; and inadequate public transport challenging this LDF stronghold's border-rural economy.
