Kodungallur Assembly Election Results 2026
Kodungallur Assembly constituency, numbered 73, is situated in Thrissur district of Kerala. Established in 1957, the constituency has seen alternating dominance between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], reflecting Kerala’s broader political oscillation between the United Democratic Front (UDF) and Left Democratic Front (LDF). Over the years, Kodungallur has been a focal point for coastal and agrarian issues, given its mix of urban settlements and farming communities along the Periyar river. The current MLA is E T Taison from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), who won the 2021 assembly election with a margin of 14,892 votes. Key issues in Kodungallur include recurring flooding during monsoon seasons, unemployment among youth, inadequate urban amenities, and environmental concerns affecting the coastal belt. Development projects such as road expansion, river management, and public health improvements are high on the local agenda, while residents continue to expect greater governmental support for sustainable fisheries and agriculture.
