This general seat mixes rubber-spice farming, industries, and Syrian Christian voters in hilly terrain. CPI(M)'s Antony John, from LDF, holds as current MLA since 2016. In 2021, he won with 64,234 votes (47.1per cent), beating KC(M)'s Shibu Thekkumpuram (57,629 votes) by 6,605 votes at high turnout, after a 19,282 margin in 2016. Key issues: monsoon crop losses, landslides, poor roads, youth job migration, quarrying threats, water shortages, plus healthcare and irrigation needs fueling tight races. (152 words)
