Kundara Assembly constituency is a general seat in Kollam district, Kerala, encompassing Kundara town and rural panchayats with rubber plantations, cashew processing units, and diverse communities shaping its politics. The current MLA is P.C. Vishnunath from INC, elected in 2021 with 76,405 votes (48.85per cent), defeating CPI(M)'s J. Mercykutty Amma (71,882 votes, 45.96per cent) by 4,523 votes, while BDJS's Vanaja Vidyadharan got 6,100 votes (3.90per cent) amid total valid votes of 155,691. Key issues include Kallada River flooding damaging crops; poor rural road connectivity hindering farm exports; youth unemployment despite Gulf remittances; erratic water supply and sanitation gaps; overburdened PHCs; illegal quarrying polluting rivers; monsoon power outages; rising land prices squeezing small farmers; traffic near markets; and inadequate public transport challenging this UDF-won seat's agrarian economy.
