Hry extends tenure of Karnal, Faridabad Smart City projects till March
Chandigarh: The Haryana govt has extended the tenure of Karnal Smart City Limited and its project management consultancy till March 31, 2027, to ensure timely completion of the ongoing projects and smooth handing over of assets to the concerned departments. Faridabad Smart City Limited project has also been granted extension till March 31, 2027.This was disclosed during the meeting of a state-level high-powered steering committee (SLHPSC), chaired by Haryana chief secretary Anurag Rastogi, on Thursday to review the progress of the Smart City Mission projects in Karnal and Faridabad. During the meeting, it was stated that the extension had been granted in lines with the directions of the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) so that the remaining projects nearing completion could be executed efficiently and citizens continued to benefit from the modern urban infrastructure. Rastogi reviewed the physical and financial progress of projects being implemented under the Smart City Mission in Karnal and Faridabad and appreciated the pace of development works being carried out in both cities. He said the mission significantly strengthened urban infrastructure, improved civic amenities and enhanced the quality of life for citizens through modern and technology-driven development initiatives.
Ashok Kumar Meena, commissioner and secretary of the urban local bodies department, said Faridabad Smart City Limited undertook 46 projects worth Rs 916.83 crore, out of which 32 projects were completed. Similarly, Karnal Smart City Limited took up 122 projects worth Rs 930 crore, with 86 projects completed and several others in advanced stages of execution.
