Kerala SSLC result 2026 announced today amid government transition

The Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination was declared Friday afternoon, bringing an end to uncertainty over the announcement during the transition to a new state government. The results was jointly announced by the General Education Secretary and the Director of General Education after the examination board completed the final approval process earlier this week.

The examination board met on Tuesday and carried out the last stage of evaluation and formal clearance before approving the declaration of the results. Officials in the education department had earlier discussed whether the announcement should wait until a new education minister assumed office following the Assembly election results. However, the department later decided to proceed with the original schedule to avoid disruption to the Plus One admission process and the academic calendar.

Evaluation process completed before approval

The valuation of answer scripts had already been completed before the board meeting. Only procedural formalities and formal approval from the examination board remained pending. Former Education Minister V Sivankutty had earlier indicated that Friday was likely to be the date for the publication of the results.

Officials were also concerned about growing anxiety among students and parents because several other board examination results had already been announced. Congress leadership reportedly informed education department officials that the result declaration did not need to wait for the formation of the new cabinet or the appointment of a new education minister.

This is not the first occasion when senior officials have announced SSLC results in the absence of ministers. During the Lok Sabha election period in 2019, when the model code of conduct was in force, the results were announced by the General Education Secretary. In 2016, the announcement was made by the Chief Secretary.

More than 4.17 lakh students appeared

This year, 4,17,497 students appeared for the Kerala SSLC examinations. The examinations were conducted across 3,031 centres in the state. The written examinations took place from March 5 to March 30, 2026, while model examinations were held between February 16 and February 20, 2026.

The Information Technology practical examinations were conducted earlier from February 1 to February 14, 2026. Evaluation of answer scripts began on April 16 and continued until early May.

Kerala follows a nine-point grading system for SSLC examinations. Students are required to secure at least a D+ grade to qualify in the examination.

Pass percentage remained above 99 per cent in recent years

Kerala has consistently recorded a high success rate in SSLC examinations in recent years. In 2025, a total of 4,27,021 students appeared for the examination, of whom 4,24,583 passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 99.50 per cent. The previous year, the state recorded a pass percentage of 99.69 per cent, with 4,25,830 students clearing the examination out of 4,27,153 candidates.

The number of students securing A+ grades in all subjects stood at 61,449 in 2025, compared to 71,831 in 2024. The number of schools recording a 100 per cent pass result was 2,331 in 2025, while the figure stood at 2,474 in 2024.

Among specialised streams, the Technical High School Leaving Certificate (THSLC) examination recorded a pass percentage of 99.48 per cent in 2025. A total of 3,055 students appeared and 3,039 passed, while 429 students secured full A+ grades. In the Arts High School Leaving Certificate (AHSLC) stream, all 66 students who appeared cleared the examination, resulting in a 100 per cent pass rate.
