The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has officially declared the WB HS Result 2026 for Class 12 students in the press conference. Candidates who appeared for the Higher Secondary (HS) examinations can now check their results online through the official portals. The pass percentage stands at 91.20%. The Science stream recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.19%, while Commerce registered 93.67% and Arts achieved a pass percentage of 89.19% in the WB HS Result 2026.
The exams were conducted from February 12 to 27, 2026. Approximately, 66,000 more girls have appeared in the WB HS Class 12th exam.
The results were first announced through an official press conference. Following the declaration, the online link to access individual scorecards was activated for students across the state.
West Bengal HS result 2026: Important details
A total of 5,71,355 students successfully cleared the examination this year. Notably, the results were announced just 76 days after the conclusion of the board exams.
In a new development, the marksheets issued this year will carry the photograph of each candidate. The council has also introduced an important policy change allowing students who wish to improve their performance to reappear for the Semester 4 examinations next year after surrendering their existing marksheet.
The merit list saw 64 students securing positions in the top ten ranks, including 56 boys and 8 girls. Kolkata also registered a strong performance, with four students making it to the top ten.
Among the top performers in the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education HS Result 2026, Adrito Pal of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith secured the first rank with an outstanding score of 496 out of 500 marks, translating to 99.2%.
The second position was jointly secured by Jishnu Kundu of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya and Ritobrata Nath, both scoring 495 marks, or 99%. Their performances placed them among the highest scorers in the state this year.
West Bengal Uchch Madhyamik result: District-wise details
Purba Midnapore emerging as the best-performing district in the WB HS Result 2026 with an impressive pass percentage of 94.19%. Howrah followed closely with 93.84%, while South 24 Parganas recorded 93.71%. Hooghly and North 24 Parganas also registered strong performances with pass percentages of 93.41% and 93.11% respectively.
Kolkata posted a pass percentage of 91.88%. On the other hand, Jalpaiguri reported the lowest pass percentage at 86.72%, followed by Paschim Burdwan at 87.28% and Alipurduar at 87.65%. Several other districts, including Nadia, Paschim Midnapore, Purulia, Darjeeling, and Birbhum, recorded pass percentages above 90%, reflecting a strong overall performance across the state.

Minimum passing marks for WB HS exam
