Man dies in accident at workplace near Erode, probe on

Erode: A worker died after he was crushed by a machine at his workplace near Bhavanisagar in Erode on Sunday.Police said the deceased Shameem Ansari, 23, from Chattisgarh, got caught in a conveyor belt of a crusher machine, while attempting to fix a loose bolt. He was employed at Senthoor Velan crusher unit in Bhavanisagar."Around 2pm, a bolt in a crusher machine came loose. When Shameem went to fix it, he unexpectedly got caught in the conveyor belt and suffered a severe head injury." said a police officer from Bhavanisagar station. Shameem was rushed to a private hospital in Bhavanisagar for treatment. He was later shifted to the government hospital in Sathyamangalam; however, doctors declared him dead. Police have sent the body for a postmortem.A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
