With 48,488 votes, BJP's Bhojarajan M won the Udhagamandalam constituency in the 2026 assembly elections, beating Ibrahim R (TVK) by 976 votes.
Udhagamandalam Assembly constituency is located in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu and forms part of the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency. The seat represents the hill town of Ooty and surrounding areas and has historically witnessed contests involving the Indian National Congress (INC), the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), reflecting the varied political alignments seen in the Nilgiris region.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,02,898 electors, with 1,40,155 valid votes polled.
INC candidate R Ganesh secured victory with 67,747 votes, defeating AIADMK candidate Vinoth, who received 57,329 votes. The margin of victory stood at 10,418 votes, giving the Congress a clear win in the constituency.
Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Udhagamandalam had 1,72,086 electors, with 1,22,675 valid votes recorded. AIADMK candidate Budhichandhiran won the seat with 61,605 votes, defeating INC candidate R Ganesh, who secured 54,060 votes.
The winning margin stood at 7,545 votes, indicating a competitive electoral contest.
