NEW DELHI: Dilip Mondal of the All India Trinamool Congress won the Bishnupur constituency with 1,32,647 votes, defeating BJP candidate Abhijit Sardar by a margin of 36,925 votes. Sardar secured 95,722 votes. CPI(M)'s Shyamal Dal finished third with 13,338 votes, followed by Congress's Arghya Naskar with 3,158 votes.

Bishnupur (South 24 Parganas) is an SC-reserved assembly constituency situated in the Bishnupur I and Thakurpukur Maheshtala community development block areas of South 24 Parganas district.
It is part of the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency has a high Scheduled Caste population of over 44 per cent, which strongly shapes its electoral character. It is a mix of rural and semi-urban areas with 77 per cent rural population.
In 2021, TMC's Dilip Mondal retained the seat with a commanding performance, polling nearly 57 per cent of the vote and defeating BJP's Agniswar Naskar by a margin of almost 59,000 votes. In 2016, Dilip Mondal again won convincingly with over 52 per cent of the vote, defeating CPI(M)'s Aloke Sardar by more than 30,000 votes. Mondal has been the MLA continuously since 2011.
