In 2021, TMC's Abdur Rahim Quazi won impressively with 1,09,701 votes, defeating BJP's Sukalyan Baidya by a commanding margin of 56,444 votes. In 2016, Quazi had won the seat as a Congress candidate with 98,408 votes, defeating TMC's Amir Ali by 22,245 votes — he subsequently joined TMC.
In 2011, Congress's Abdul Gaffar Quazi won with 89,952 votes. The seat has been associated with the Quazi family, and with the family now within TMC, it is considered a reasonably secure hold for the party in 2026.
