Jalukbari is an assembly constituency (No. 51) in Assam's Kamrup Metro district, part of the Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency. It is an urban seat encompassing parts of Guwahati city, including Jalukbari locality, known for educational institutions and connectivity via NH-27.
BJP's Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam's Chief Minister, dominated 2021 with 130,762 votes (73.52per cent share) and a massive 92,677-vote margin over INC's Romen Chandra Borthakur (38,085 votes). He switched from INC, where he won convincingly in 2011.
The area features a high literacy rate above 85per cent and around 200,000+ electors, with a mix of urban professionals, students, and migrants. Voter turnout typically exceeds 70per cent, supported by numerous polling stations in this growing peri-urban hub.
