In this closely contested race in Sholavandan, Karuppaiah MV of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged victorious, securing 63,907 votes and winning by a margin of 2,678 votes. His opponent, Venkatesan A. from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, received 61,229 votes, resulting in a narrow defeat.In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s V. Venkatesan won with 84,240 votes, defeating AIADMK’s K. Manickam, who secured 67,195 votes. The margin was 17,045 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. Manickam won with 87,044 votes, defeating DMK’s C. Bhavani, who received 62,187 votes. The margin was 24,857 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s MV Karuppiah won with 84,153 votes, defeating PMK’s M.
