In Rasipuram constituency, TVK's Logesh Tamilselvan D emerged as the winner with 74,808 votes, beating Premkumar SD of BJP by a margin of 14,511 votes. Premkumar stood second in the race with 60,297 votes while Mathiventhan M DR gained 57,854 votes.
Rasipuram is a constituency in Tamil Nadu's Namakkal district. It is a Scheduled Caste (SC) constituency. In 2021, Rasipuram saw 82% voting where M. Mathiventhan of the
DMK won against Dr. V.
Saroja of the
AIADMK with a margin of 1%. In 2016, Rasipuram saw 84% voting where Dr. V. Saroja of the AIADMK won against V.P. Duraisamy of the DMK with a margin of 5%.
Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Rasipuram had 1,94,596 electors, with 1,62,217 valid votes recorded.
AIADMK candidate Dhanapal P won the seat with 90,186 votes, defeating DMK candidate Duraisamy V P, who secured 65,469 votes. The winning margin of 24,717 votes reflected strong support for the AIADMK during that election cycle.
Historically, the constituency has alternated between the two major parties. DMK candidate Ramaswamy K P won the seat in 2006, while AIADMK’s P R Sundaram secured victory in 2001.
Earlier, the 1996 election saw a very narrow AIADMK victory, with Sundaram defeating DMK candidate R R Damayandhi by just 454 votes, indicating that Rasipuram has remained politically competitive over the years.
