AIADMK's Edappadi Palaniswami emerges victorious securing 148933 against Independent candidate Premkumar K with a margin of 98110 votes.Edappadi Assembly constituency is located in Salem district of Tamil Nadu and forms part of the Salem Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency is politically significant in the region and has largely witnessed contests involving the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), reflecting the broader political alignments seen across western Tamil Nadu.In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,61,304 electors, with 2,25,644 valid votes polled. AIADMK candidate K Palaniswami won the seat with 98,703 votes, defeating PMK candidate Annadurai N, who secured 56,681 votes. The margin of victory stood at 42,022 votes, marking a decisive win for the AIADMK candidate.Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Edappadi had 2,17,074 electors, with 1,85,494 valid votes recorded.

AIADMK’s K Palaniswami again secured a comfortable victory with 1,04,586 votes, defeating PMK candidate Karthe M, who polled 69,848 votes. The winning margin of 34,738 votes reflected strong support for the AIADMK in the constituency.Historically, the constituency has also witnessed victories by other parties. In the 1971 Assembly elections, DMK candidate A Arumugam won the seat with 35,638 votes, defeating Indian National Congress (Organisation) candidate T Natarajan, who secured 29,485 votes, by a margin of 6,153 votes. Over the decades, Edappadi has remained politically influential in the Salem region, with electoral outcomes often shaped by shifting alliances and state-level political trends.
