Bike-borne men snatch gold chain from woman

Trichy: Two unidentified robbers snatched a five-sovereign gold chain from a 51-year-old woman at Thiruvanaikoil in Trichy city on Wednesday. Police identified the victim as K Ambika, from Keela Kondayampettai near Thiruvanaikoil. On Wednesday morning, she was walking to a shop near Vinayagar Kovil, when a bike-borne duo approached the victim from behind. Suddenly, they snatched her five-sovereign gold thali chain and fled the spot. Attempts by onlookers to chase the duo went in vain. Based on the woman's complaint, the Srirangam police station registered a case. CCTV surveillance footage in Thiruvanaikoil and surrounding areas is being ascertained to identify the burglars.
