Indore: After months of anticipation, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) declared results of State Eligibility Test (SET) for all 31 subjects, paving the way for thousands of aspirants seeking careers in higher education.
More than 6,000 candidates qualified the examination and are now eligible to apply for assistant professor recruitment in the state.
The recruitment examination for assistant professors will begin from July 12. MPPSC has announced 1,239 vacancies across 19 subjects this year. The first phase of the examination is in July, while two additional phases will be conducted in August.
The SET examination was held on March 1 at centres across 12 districts, including Indore. Around 1.46 lakh candidates had registered for the examination, and nearly 71 percent, approximately 1.03 lakh aspirants, appeared for the test. Only about six per cent of candidates qualified, reflecting the intense competition for academic positions in state colleges and universities.
Despite results being declared for all 31 subjects, recruitment vacancies have been announced only for 19 subjects. Candidates qualifying in the remaining 12 subjects may not immediately get an opportunity in the current recruitment cycle, leading to disappointment among some aspirants.
Over the past three years, MPPSC has announced a total of 4,913 assistant professor posts, including the current recruitment cycle.
