1,400 wanted criminals, 3 with ‘terror links’ held under Op Prahar
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police arrested more than 1,400 wanted and absconding criminals, along with three persons allegedly linked to terrorist organisations, during the past month under the ongoing ‘Operation Prahar’.The details were shared by Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth during a high-level review meeting at the police headquarters on Thursday. The meeting was attended by senior officers, including ADG (law and order) V Murugesan, ADG (intelligence) Abhinav Kumar, and SSPs and SPs from all 13 districts.“During the period, challans were issued against more than 15,000 vehicles and around 2,000 vehicles were seized for violating traffic rules. In action against organised crime, 40 criminals were arrested under the Gangster Act, while preventive action was taken against over 130 others,” Seth said.He added that two persons were arrested in Udham Singh Nagar district and one in Dehradun district for alleged links with Pakistan-based terror organisations.Three Bangladeshi nationals were also arrested for allegedly staying in India illegally, he said.“Uttarakhand Police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen in the state. Strict action against criminals will continue under ‘Operation Prahar’,” Seth added.
