Agra: A man accused of stalking and harassing female students at Aligarh Muslim University was arrested after allegedly scaling the wall of a girls’ hostel and attempting to molest a student.Before the accused, Abdullah Fazlu (38), alias Abdullah Khan, was taken away by police on Sunday night, one of the students recorded his video and shared it with other girls. Police said the accused had allegedly been stalking a university student for nearly one-and-a-half months.On Sunday evening, he allegedly followed the student and her two friends near their residential hall and tried to molest them. The girls rushed inside the hostel, but the accused allegedly jumped over the boundary wall and entered the premises. After the students raised an alarm, the university’s proctorial team intervened and alerted police.Police arrested the accused and seized a knife from his possession. He was later sent to jail under relevant charges, including the Arms Act.In its complaint to police, the university administration alleged that the accused had been stalking and harassing several female students for the past few days. It further stated, “When the students resisted his advances on Sunday evening, he allegedly made inappropriate physical contact with them before jumping into the hostel premises.” The complaint also mentioned that the students suspected he was carrying a weapon, which he allegedly threw away while fleeing.Civil Lines SHO Arun Kumar said, “A case was registered under section 75 of BNS for sexual harassment, and the accused was arrested and sent to jail. Further investigation is underway.”
