Dismembered body of missing man found in Bhagalpur, 3 detained
Bhagalpur: Police have launched a probe into the brutal murder of Abhishek Kumar Maskan (28), a young weaver whose dismembered body was recovered from Shahpur Diara under Nathnagar police station on Saturday. Missing since Dec 23, Abhishek was allegedly shot dead, chopped into pieces, and dumped in a river stream. Three youths — Radhe, Ritik, and Ayush — have been detained for questioning, with police suspecting a financial dispute as the motive of murder.Bhagalpur SP (city) Subhank Mishra said, “The detained youths have provided vital information and are being interrogated to get some more clues.”According to the police, Abhishek’s body was tied with a plastic rope, wrapped in a jacket, and buried in a plastic bag filled with sand and bricks. It was found in three pieces, with the head and legs missing. He was first shot and then cut into pieces with a sharp knife before being thrown into the stream. His family lodged a missing report on Dec 24 after he failed to return home. Police said the detained youths worked with Abhishek, who had purchased a cellphone for Radhe on installments under his guarantee. When Radhe defaulted and the shop owner pressured Abhishek for payment, he snatched the phone back, allegedly triggering the conspiracy to kill him.
Abhishek’s father, Dharmendra Das, said they suspected foul play after repeated calls went unanswered. Maternal uncle Santosh Das added that Abhishek left home on Dec 23, saying he would return soon, but later his phone was switched off. The deceased was married and had a one-year-old son.
